I got in a car accident today...SOMEONE please help.?

got in a car accident today. I was driving with only my permit, without a licensed driver, driving myself to the hospital for an asthma attack, and a semi swerved into my lane, I was looking over my shoulder to make sure he wasn't going to hit me, and I ended up rear ending the person in front of me. The only damage that was done is that their bumper was bent, it didn't hit the car at all, just the bumper. I have Liability insurance, and the police came, took the report, I told them I was on my way to the hospital, he allowed me to have a licensed driver come and pick my car up, thank god he didn't have it impounded. But he told me that it is now up to the DMV if my license will be suspended. I told him I have an appointment on the 15th to get my license, and he told me if he were me he would go and get it because his report isn't even going to hit the dmv by then. Well my question is, do you think they will take my license away? I've read that driving without a licensed driver and getting caught that they take it for 5 years in the state of California which is where I live. So that's basically my question, and if they DO take it, is there anything I can do to get it back? I'm also paying 150 a month for liability insurance, and I was wondering about how much you guys think it will go up with the damage that was done, since it didn't even touch their actual car, just the bumper. If anyone has any advice also it would really help me out. I'm FREAKING out.
